DESERT DUALS

Where branches compete and camaraderie is built through competition.

ABOUT DESERT DUALS

Desert Duals is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that brings together athletes, active duty service members, and veterans through team-based Brazilian jiu jitsu competition.

Our mission is to support the lifelong well-being of veterans, reservists, and active duty service members through high-level athletic competition. By creating meaningful opportunities for connection and excellence, we honor service, strengthen community, and promote continued physical and mental health.

Built around a unique branch vs branch format, Desert Duals transforms competition into a platform for camaraderie, resilience, and community.

Our inaugural event took place at the prestigious UFC Apex, featuring a Quintet-style Brazilian jiu jitsu tournament. Teams from the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force competed head to head in a battle of the branches.

Why Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and Veterans?

Veterans are committing suicide everyday (44 per day according to new studies conducted by the VA), and over 60% (1,218,857) of all separated OEF/OIF/OND Veterans have used the VA health care system since 2001. Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (BJJ) has been growing sustainably over the last decade because of the significant impact it has on a persons lifestyle.

We have seen BJJ help save the lives of Veterans and drastically turn their life around from being overly dependent on the VA prescribing endless amounts of drugs, to renewing their sense of purpose in life.

We need your help to provide these men and women of Desert Duals and give them the opportunity to be the champions of the life they’re destined to be!
